Frequently Asked Questions
What languages does ScriptStar support?
ScriptStar now supports translation in several languages, depending on the translation model chosen. Parakeet (faster) supports:
- Bulgarian (bg), Croatian (hr), Czech (cs), Danish (da), Dutch (nl), English (en), Estonian (et), Finnish (fi), French (fr), German (de), Greek (el), Hungarian (hu), Italian (it), Latvian (lv), Lithuanian (lt), Maltese (mt), Polish (pl), Portuguese (pt), Romanian (ro), Slovak (sk), Slovenian (sl), Spanish (es), Swedish (sv), Russian (ru), Ukrainian (uk)
Whisper (slower) supports almost everything — here's a full list.
Remember, by default, ScriptStar it uses the transcription data that Final Cut Pro v12 automatically generated by default in English. It's also possible to import SRT files for ANY source — so you can use whatever tool/workflow you want to generate the transcriptions.
How should I create my SRTs?
In most circumstances, you won't need to create SRTs as transcription is now supported directly. However, preparing SRTs allows for human input, increasing accuracy and timing, so if you have prepared captions they'll give great results.
When working in English, you can create Captions in a Final Cut Pro timeline, then export them as a SRT.
This gives you great control, and you can perfect the timing.
